Meet Our Remarkable Rescues

These amazing dogs have overcome tough beginnings and are now looking for loving homes. Each one has a unique personality and story, and we know you’ll fall in love. Ready to change a life (or two)? Contact us today and give one of our rescues the GREYT LIFE  they deserve!

Charlie

Charlie at the dog park in March.

    • Charlie was in an animal shelter in Lovington, New Mexico after he was found running loose along a busy highway. We believe he will turn one-year old around the 1st of April.
    • He has lived in foster care for several months. His foster family returned him to our rescue kennel because they had family obligations that require out of state travel for several months.
    • We are so grateful to help this sweet and beautiful Lurcher. His foster family deserve highest praise for their hard work helping Charlie find his way. He has had some hard times in his short life--but that's all in the past.
    • CHARLIE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. He passed all of his tests about living in a home--he can be crated for 2-3 hours, he is GREYT on the leash, has good manners at the dog park, sits quietly while the family is eating--no more table surfing(!), rides well in the car, and has pretty much mastered house-training.
    • His prey drive is still considerable--we do not plan to place him with small dogs or cats. He would love having a canine buddy to live with. Medium-sized dogs are fine. We do not place in homes that have "bully breeds".

    Zoe and Sean

Three new Lurchers to bring in the Spring!

      • Three Lurchers were relinquished to our group on March 2nd.
      • Ava was the oldest and most mature--she has already found a home.
      • Zoe and Sean are litter-mates. I believe their mother is a Greyhound. Take a look at the DNA results. That's really wild!  They were born in December, 2024
      • Zoe is having a good time learning how to walk on the leash. She is doing well coming to me in the turn-out yard. We have taken short walks gradually increasing the distance. Once I feel confident about managing her on the leash, we will set up her spay. She is stunning! Smaller at about 50 pounds and her brindle rough coat is very unusual and striking. Zoe is affectionate and loves getting pet-pets.
      • Sean is energetic--he will need the most work with leash training--get ready! He is still worried about the world outside his run and pen. But--ever so slowly I have been able to convince him to venture a few more steps every day. We will set up his neuter as soon as he masters leash-walking and is less fearful. He has grown since we got him and definitely fits the description of a "Long Dog" which is one of the terms used to describe Lurchers. I haven't gotten a chance to weight Sean but believe with his bone structure he is definitely over 70 pounds. He is affectionate and loving.
      • Their medical checkups were normal--with negative 4Dx tests and normal stool samples.  They are very healthy!!
      • They have lived their entire lives on a ranch--we have some work ahead to get them used to their new environment and lives as pets instead of working dogs.
      • Zoe and Sean are very neat Lurchers and we are so happy to be able to help them.

      Jack

        • Jack got adopted and moved to Oklahoma!
        • His new family includes a lovely black female named Pepper who was bred to race but ended up in a hunting pack. She was relinquished to our group several years ago. I will include some wonderful pics of Jack and his new family so you can enjoy and share the happy ending!

        Teddy

          • Teddy had been at our kennel for over a year. We made tremendous progress with him during that time. Basically, he entered as an adolescent and left as a young man!
          • This little guy had been left behind in a rural area by hunters--we rescued him from a farm family that live in Hale County. At the time of his rescue, he was healthy and quickly learned to walk on the leash--in fact he was quite accomplished with this skill in a very short time!
          • Teddy had lots of things he loved--including other dogs.
          • But--when potential families showed up to meet him--he was stand-offish and not affectionate. It was heartbreaking for us to witness this.
          • Enter Dr. Nick Jeffery and Teddy's world quickly changed. Dr. Jeffrey had had Lurchers in the UK. He had helped an extremely shy one become socialized and understood that Teddy didn't mean to be unfriendly or un-affectionate--he just needed some gentle leadership and understanding.
          • Needless to say when Dr. Jeffrey contacted us inquiring about adopting Teddy--we were "over the moon" with happiness.
          • And best of all--Teddy lives with another Lurcher--they are a good pair!

Photo Gallery of Happiness--Class of 2025 graduates!

            • The rescue and adoption group is thrilled to share this album that includes all the dogs that  were rescued and successfully placed during 2025, and in the early months of 2026.
            • For a couple of weeks, there weren't any dogs at the rescue kennel. This is the first time this has happened in many years.
            • We used the time to recharge and renew our commitment to helping Lurchers in need. At the beginning of March--three new West Texas Lurchers arrived.
            • Help us as we welcome the newcomers and pay tribute to all the lucky Lurchers that moved into their new homes!
