What a perfect match! Alexander recently moved to ABQ. He was not a stranger to Greyhounds yet, hadn't been able to adopt one on his own. But that changed quickly and on a sunny day in Tucumcari, he met us at Dunn Park and started his new adventure of being owned by a Lurcher. He Jack are having lots of fun exploring the ABQ together. Outstanding!!
Dr. Sutherlin practices at Live Oak Animal Hospital located in Lubbock. She had extensive experience with Greyhounds and Lurchers while living in the UK. We were so happy that she adopted Basil--who's 7-years young and was relinquished to our group in July. He gets along swell with her little terrier mix and is taking his job as greeter at the clinic very seriously!
Sara and Philip spent all morning walking dogs at the kennel finally deciding to adopt Guinness who they have renamed Nico. From all reports Nico is thriving under their care and enjoying his new life in dog-friendly Austin!
Seriously, Del is an icon. He has loved over 30 Greyhounds and was missing not having one since Tatum recently passed away. Del has adopted four from us over the years including Tatum, Lexi, Kato, and now Shiner. Del and Shiner are in ABQ, along with Del's recent shelter rescue--a big goofy dog named Buddy. Did we mention that Shiner is having a blast!
We’d love to hear from you—whether you're ready to adopt, have questions, or want to report a sighthound in need.
We welcome all adoption applications and give first preference to individuals or families in or near Lubbock. However, we’re also open to out-of-town and out-of-state adoptions, as long as:
Most adopters will need to travel to Lubbock to meet or pick up their dog, though meeting part-way may be possible. Each situation is considered on a case-by-case basis. We do not charge a processing fee to apply. Submit your application and let’s begin the conversation.
Please contact us immediately if you’ve found a Greyhound or Lurcher wearing one of our group’s ID tags.
We want to help and have been notified many times about dogs that are out loose on the streets, in nearby shelters, abandoned, injured, or other similar situations where they plainly need our help and support. Keep in mind, resources are limited and proximity to Lubbock has to be considered. If we cannot help, we will try and offer advice and suggestions.
